Homeopathy

This system of alternative medicine was formulated by Samuel Hahnemann and is practiced extensively throughout the world. Homeopathy can help in both acute and chronic complaints safely and effectively without harmful side affects that often experienced with conventional medicines. The remedies are non-addictive and healing occurs gently using the minutest dose according to the principles of classical homeopathy. Each individual's symptoms are unique and expressed as such so the homeopathic remedy has to match symptoms specifically regardless of the similarity of the disease label. For example, if 5 people had migranes, the homeopath would not treat all 5 with the same remedy. An experienced and trained homeopath will investigate each case to find the unique and individualizing symptoms of each person and find the appropriate remedy from dozens of possible choices.

Yoga

Hatha yoga is the physical discipline that focuses on developing control of the body through asanas or poses. In Sanskit, ha represents sun and tha represents the moon. Hatha thus represents the duality in life - yin and yang, masculine and feminine, darkness and light. It leads the way to balancing these opposing forces. While all yoga styles seek to balance the body, mind, and spirit, they do so in various ways. No style is better than another; it is simply a matter of personal preference. Our approach consists of gentle stretches, deep breathing techniques along with relaxation and meditation. Participants experience increased flexibility and mobility. The focused breathing and meditation results in heightened vigor, mental alertness and an overall sense of well being.

Bach Flower Essences

There are 38 flower essences formulated by Dr. Edward Bach in England in the 1950s. Used all over the world, these safe, natural essences address negative emotional states and imbalances in the individual. These essences can be used individually or combined to bring about a deep state of harmony and a sense of well being. Every negative emotion is covered by the essences. While the essences provide reasonable descriptions of the symptoms that can be addressed, it is always advisable to initially seek the help of an experienced and registered practitioner.

Zen Shiatsu

Is an ancient Asian massage system that encourages the stimulation of self-healing. It is based on the stimulation of self-healing. It is based on diagnostic principles of pulse reading accompanied by stimulating Acupressure points. It works on the Qi (pronounced Chi meaning prana or vital force) of the body bringing balance, healing and relief from pain. By using light pressure on various specific pressure points along the meridians of the body, Qi blood and energy is re-directed thus removing stagnation or blockages and pain. Signs and symptoms of each individual are used to help diagnose problem areas and these include assessment of the many pulses as well as other external body signs. As with other holistic healing practices, a shiatsu therapist focuses on treating the whole person taking into consideration the mental, emotional and physical aspects. Each treatment lasts about one 1 hour bringing subtle energy movements and a deep sense of well-being, relaxation and increased energy. Optionally, each session can include balancing of the chakras or vital energy centers of the body. This therapy is conducted while you are fully clothed. Clients are therefore advised to wear comfortable clothing such as sweat pants and tops including socks.
